About

It all started for Kerrie in 1986 when her high school art teacher, Bob Powter, suggested she could study pottery at university, she didn’t even know that a Ceramics degrees was a thing?

She completed an arts degree over three years at the Bendigo College of Advanced Education, where there were amazing teachers. The course included subjects such as chemistry and geology, to help in understanding the materials used in clay and glazes.

The most influential person in her career has been Dave Edwards from Black Dog Creek Pottery, who is a wonderful man and a very talented potter. Kerrie worked with Dave in a production pottery for eight years, where he taught her about the real world of making pots. She learned about line and balance and function. It’s not just about looking pretty.

The Table Top Pots studio is inside a shearing shed that is over 100 years old, located on the farm that Kerrie grew up on. She has been working as a potter for over 35 years, the last 22 in her current location.

Kerrie loves making attractive, functional pieces that you will use every day in your home. All Table Top Pots products are high fired white stoneware with vibrant contemporary glazes that she has developed. By taking the glaze firing up to 1300oC the pots are safe to be used in the microwave, dishwasher and oven. She uses a combination of dipping and spraying glaze techniques to achieve the vivid finishes on her pots.
